Anthony Richter, Associate Director of the Open Society Institute

Anthony Richter is the Associate Director of the Open Society Institute. He is also Director of OSI's Middle East and North Africa Initiatives and the Central Eurasia Project, and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He received a B.A. from Wesleyan University and an M.A. in Slavic Languages and Literatures from Columbia University. His languages are Russian, French and Persian.
Erika Dailey, Deputy Director of International Operations

Erika Dailey served as the founding project director for Turkmenistan at the Open Society Institute in 2002-2007. Between 2000-03, she headed grants and advocacy for OSI's Central Eurasia Project. From 1992-98 she was a Researcher, Moscow Office Director, and Research Director for the Caucasus and Central Asia at Human Rights Watch. She has consulted for numerous leading human rights and development agencies, testified before Congress, and written extensively about Central Asia and the south Caucasus. She holds a BA in Russian and Soviet studies from Princeton University and an MA in Central Asian Studies from Columbia University.
Robert von Dienes-Oehm, Senior Program Coordinator of Central Eurasia Project and Middle East and North Africa Initiatives

Robert von Dienes-Oehm is Senior Program Coordinator of the CEP and MENA initiatives.
He is coordinator of the department's work on Pakistan and other regional projects, and
holds MA and MPhil degrees in Modern Intellectual History (2002).
Karen Appelquist, Program Assistant, Central Eurasia Project

Karen Appelquist is the Program Assistant for Central Eurasia Project. She graduated from Barnard College, Columbia University in 2003 with a BA in Russian Studies and Anthropology and went on to earn an MA in Russian Studies at the European University at St. Petersburg.

Justin Burke, Website Manager

Justin Burke is the managing editor of EurasiaNet. Previously, he worked as a foreign correspondent for the Christian Science Monitor, reporting from Moscow (1990-93) and Bonn (1994-95). Burke graduated from Boston University in 1986 with a degree in Soviet and Eastern European Studies. He was a visiting scholar at the Davis Center for Russian Research at Harvard University in 1995-96. He has worked at the Open Society Institute in New York since 1996.
Elizabeth Owen, Caucasus News Coordinator

Elizabeth Owen is the Caucasus news coordinator for EurasiaNet, based in Tbilisi, Georgia. Before joining EurasiaNet, she was the senior producer for PBS interactive projects at Thirteen/WNET New York and a producer for TIME Magazine Online. From 1993-1996, she worked in Moscow as a reporter for The Moscow Times, The Moscow Tribune and as an editor for Moscow Magazine. She holds an MA in international relations from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University with a concentration in Russian Studies.
