Negotiations with NATO about the transportation of non-military goods for Afghanistan through Tajik territory are at an advanced stage, according to Tajik Foreign Minster Khamrokhon Zarifi.

Zarifi told a January 21 press conference in Dushanbe that President Emomali Rahmon would likely sign the relevant documents when the Tajik leader visits Brussels in early February.

"Tajikistan has unique capabilities for the transportation of goods. We have five or six bridges that connect with Afghanistan," CA-news.org reported
Zarifi as saying.

"We have received several project agreements from the countries of Europe and the US. So long as there is no stability in Afghanistan, we will help everyone who wants peace in the country," he added.
