Aspects of Strategic Cooperation with UN Discussed at Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan
Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister, heads of Turkmenistan’s diplomatic missions at the United Nations, and the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, Jacinta Barrins, discussed the status and prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations, stressing the need to consolidate efforts to more effectively implement the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Turkmenistan and the United Nations Development Programme, signed on March 2 this year.

Delegation of Russian Businessmen Held Talks in Turkmenistan
A delegation of representatives of Russian companies led by Nina Levshins, Deputy Chairman of the Russian-Turkmen Business Council and CEO of "Russian-Turkmen Trade House” visited Ashgabat. Members of the delegation expressed interest in establishing close business partnerships with state-owned and private business companies in Turkmenistan.
Members of the delegation held meetings at the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, the Ministry of Power Engineering, the Ministry of Industry, and the Ministry of Construction, to discuss existing agreements and long-term cooperation in a number of key areas.

Turkmenistan’s State Entities to Subscribe to Russian Periodicals
Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Communication is to sign contracts with the Russian printing agency Rospechat and publishing house Informnauka (Informational Science) to subscribe to their periodicals for the first half of 2013. President Berdymukhamedov signed the relevant decree “for the purposes of studying and effective implementation of foreign experience in science, technology, economy, education, healthcare and other spheres on the national level for expedited development of the country.”

The United States Embassy Marks the New Year with Winter Film Screenings in Turkmenistan
In celebration of the holiday season, the United States Embassy, in cooperation with the Turkmenistan Ministry of Culture, will hold a series of winter film screenings in the cities of Mary, Turkmenabat, Balkanabat, Dashoguz, and Ashgabat from January 2-13, 2013. The films will be shown in Russian. Entrance to this annual event is free and open to the public. The program includes mostly Disney cartoons.

USAID, Chevron, and Junior Achievement Partner with the Government of Turkmenistan to Develop the Hospitality and Hotel Industry
The Junior Achievement Worldwide (JAWW) Project in Turkmenistan, supported jointly by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and Chevron Nebitgaz, presented certificates on December 20 to 44 graduates of its “International Standards in Hospitality and the Hotel Industry” training course. Junior Achievement, which has provided opportunities for Turkmen youth to acquire skills in economics, business, and tourism since 2002, supported by Turkmenistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the State Committee for Tourism to conduct the two-month course.
