US Deputy Assistant Secretary Visited Ashgabat
The US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Cultural Cooperation with the countries of South and Central Asia, James Moore, arrived in Ashgabat to participate in American Culture Days in Turkmenistan and held talks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan to discuss the current state of, and prospects for cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sectors. American Culture Days under way in Turkmenistan
From November 23 – 25, the U.S. Embassy in Turkmenistan staged American Culture Days in Ashgabat and other regions of the country. For three days, American artists, musicians, scientists, and jewelers brought American culture to Turkmenistan via film showings, art exhibitions, public performances, symposiums, and concerts. Funding for these events had been made possible by contributions from ExxonMobil, Chevron, and the Ashgabat-Albuquerque Sister Cities partnership. Residents of Ashgabat and regional centers of Mary and Turkmenabat will be able to see the presentation “Bread: The Soul of a Nation” by renowned New York Chef Jim Lahey; art exhibition “America through Paintings and Photographs”; American Jewelry Exhibition and Workshop; Clinton Curtis Band blues concert. They will be also able to participate in the Academic Symposium with special guests from the Smithsonian Institution and other events, describing the cultural life in the US.

President of Turkmenistan receives head of Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey
President Berdymukhamedov received the Chairman of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey Rifat Hisardzhiklyoglu to discuss cooperation in the textile industry, construction, power engineering, fuel and energy, and other areas of trade. They discussed ways of enhancing the role of Turkish companies in major transportation infrastructure projects.

EU to Allocate $34 Million for Increasing Border Security in Central Asia
On November 20, at an international conference to discuss Kyrgyzstan government’s efforts to implement its National Strategy for Comprehensive Border Management, the head of the EU office in Kyrgyzstan, Chantal Hebberecht, announced that the EU will allocate $34 million to strengthen state borders in the Central Asian region.

Turkmenistan attends Energy Charter Conference in Warsaw
Acting Minister for the Oil and Gas Industry and Mineral Resources Kakageldy Abdyllaev arrived in Warsaw, Poland to attend the 23rd Energy Charter Conference. Delegates will discuss major challenges facing the world's energy policy and offer solutions that can be made on the basis of multilateral cooperation and within the framework of the Energy Charter Treaty.

OSCE Promotes Interstate Co-operation in Maritime Security in Turkmenistan
National experts from four Caspian littoral OSCE participating states discussed effective mechanisms of incident and conflict prevention and security management on the maritime borders at an OSCE-organized roundtable meeting that concluded in Ashgabat on November 16. Maritime border security officers, navy officers and customs officials from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russian Federation and Turkmenistan, as well as officials from the OSCE Secretariat participated in the discussion.

OSCE Centre holds online media course in Turkmenistan
An OSCE-organized training course on launching a website and online newsroom management ended in Ashgabat on November 23. The five-day course brought together about twenty journalists from national print and broadcast media, online newspaper Turkmenistan: The Golden Age and Turkmen state news agency Türkmen Döwlet Habarlary.
