Gen. William M. Fraser III, Commander of U.S. Transportation Command, Visits Turkmenistan for Consultations
On October 16 General William M. Fraser III, Commander of US Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), visited Ashgabat as part of a planned visit to the region. General Fraser met with his Turkmenistan military counterparts to discuss issues of common interest in support of peace and security throughout the Central Asian region. This is his second trip to the region as head of USTRANSCOM.

IV International Investment Forum Opens in Ashgabat
The IV International Investment Forum of Turkmenistan, organized by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, opened in Ashgabat, bringing together over 400 delegates from 22 countries, including Russia, USA, the UAE, the UK, France, Germany, Austria, India, China, Malaysia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Ukraine, and others. Delegates include representatives of the UN, USAID, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), leading international banks, as well as foreign companies such as Microsoft Corporation, ZyXEL Communications Corp., Dragon Oil, Yangzhou Haichuan Shipyard etc.
President of Turkmenistan Receives UAE Minister of Energy
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov received Minister of Energy of the United Arab Emirates Mohammed Bin Daen Al Hamili, who had come to Ashgabat for the IV International Investment Forum of Turkmenistan. Mohammed Bin Daen Al Hamili noted the growing interest of business circles of the United Arab Emirates in the promising Turkmen market and their desire to establish long-term partnership with Turkmenistan and participate in new projects in the oil and gas industry; UAE partners are currently working on a joint project to develop the Galkynysh gas field.
Preventive Diplomacy Issues Discussed in Ashgabat
The roundtable discussion “Preventive Diplomacy as a Tool for Achieving Results in Ensuring Security and Stability in the World” was held at the Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) in Ashgabat. Representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in Turkmenistan, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, the Institute of International Relations of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan, and local media attended the meeting.

The Deputy Director General of Interfax, President of Interfax International Group of Information Services in CIS and Baltics, Igor Porshnev, held talks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the Turkmen State News Agency (TDH), and the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. Porshev said that Interfax International Group of Information Service often quotes TDH in their materials.
President of Turkmenistan and Governor of Astrakhan Region Discuss Bilateral Cooperation
President Berdymukhamedov received Governor of Russia’s Astrakhan region, Alexander Zhilkin, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the IV International Investment Forum of Turkmenistan. Berdymukhamedov and Zhilkin agreed to expand cooperation in trade and economy, transport and communications, shipbuilding, engineering, agriculture, tourism and other industries. Zhilikin announced that Turkmenistan will open a consular office in Astrakhan.
