Turkey: Kurdish Party Calls for Tahrir-Style Civil Disobedience Campaign
Stealing a page from the book of the successful protestors in Egypt, Turkey's pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) is calling for sit-ins in major squares of cities throughout the predominantly-Kurdish southeast of Turkey.
The sit-ins are supposed to showcase Kurdish demands for greater cultural and political rights, but they are also clearly aimed at making life hard for the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in the month leading up to June's parliamentary elections.
An analysis of this development can be found here and here. Some more news about recent clashes in the southeast can be found here.
