U.S. State Department Representative Holds Talks at Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan
The representative of the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor of the US Department of State, Jessica Rodgers, held talks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said. The parties exchanged views on the implementation of international humanitarian law in the national legislation of Turkmenistan. In particular, they discussed practical steps for implementing international norms in the areas of labor, democracy, human rights, and freedoms.

A research team and TV crew from the National Geographic Society of the United States is currently visiting Turkmenistan. National Geographic, in collaboration with Turkmen scientists, is conducting a research expedition in Turkmenistan. The crew of the National Geographic Society is visiting historic sites in Turkmenistan to film documentaries for its TV broadcasts.

On November 5, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko visited Turkmenistan to hold talks with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, which resulted in signing of a Joint statement on deepening friendship and partnership between Turkmenistan and Belarus and a number of other cooperation agreements.

Belarus plans to launch a joint project with Turkmenistan to build aerial drones. Speaking to journalists on November 4 in Ashgabat after meeting with his Turkmen counterpart, Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said Minsk would soon dispatch aviation specialists to Turkmenistan to implement the project. Lukashenko said Ashgabat needs unmanned aerial vehicles "to monitor its territory, borders, and for drug trafficking."

A delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan visited Jakarta, Indonesia to hold talks with the Deputy Secretary General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Nyan Lynn. One of the priorities of Turkmenista’s foreign policy is to develop relations with the countries of Southeast Asia, said the Turkmen delegation. Establishing official contacts between Turkmenistan and the ASEAN Secretariat will be the first step in developing cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
