International Exhibition and Conference on education, sport and tourism begins in Ashgabat
The Ashgabat Exhibition Center hosted the exhibition and conference “Education, Sport, and Tourism in the Era of Power and Happiness,” organized by the Ministry of Education and the State Committee for Tourism and Sport of Turkmenistan. Delegations from the European Union, the CIS countries, the USA, Russia, India, China, Korea, Iran, Georgia, Turkey, Latvia, and others attended. Among the exhibitors were companies such as Microsoft and HP (USA), Lenovo and Huawei (China), Edustori (Turkey), Wistron and Caspian Project Supply Ltd (United Kingdom), Softline and Nowyy Disk (Russia), Yewromedia and Kartografiya (Ukraine), and Lukas Nulle (Germany). The event focused on the Avaza tourist resort on the Caspian Sea.

Ashgabat is hosting a two-day seminar on freezing terrorist assets in accordance with UN Security Council resolution #1373 from 2001, organized by Turkmenistan’s Finance Ministry in conjunction with the Executive Directorate of the UN Counter-terrorism Committee, Eurasian Group on Combatting Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism (EAG), and the Russian Center for Finance Monitoring. Representatives of 16 countries, including EAG members, the US, United Kingdom, Belgium, Austria, France, and the CIS are participating in the seminar.

The Deputy Chairman of the Chinese Central Military Commission, Fan Changlong, met with Turkmen Minister of Defense Begench Gundogdiev in Beijing, Chinese media reported. "Fan Changlong said that further development of the strategic partnership between China and Turkmenistan meets the fundamental interests of the people of the two countries, contributes towards the maintenance of peace and stability in the region, as well as promotes common development," China’s Xinhua agency said today.

A delegation from Uzbekistan headed by the Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade, Elyor Ganiev, held talks at the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan, focussing on the upcoming official visit by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov to Uzbekistan, scheduled for November 24 – 26, 2013. It is expected that during the visit Berdymukhamedov will pay special attention to the formation of the transport corridor that will connect Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Oman, and Qatar.
